Healthy Start Home Visitor

The Healthy Start program provides education and support to pregnant women and families with a baby (birth through one year). It is designed to give children a healthy start in life and help you enjoy being a parent. Healthy Start Home Visitor can provide you with information on:

  • Parent-child Relationships
  • Community Resources
  • Health Care and Child Health Assessments
  • Prevention of Child Injuries and Accidents
  • Child Development
  • Immunizations
  • Breastfeeding

Barb Eckols, our home visitor, is a mother who has been educated to help other mothers with their concerns. The home visitors work with public health nurses who may also make home visits as needed.

Barb tries to set up appointments for home visits with the parents before the baby is born and after mother and baby are home.

If you have any questions call the Health Department at (785) 421-3326 and ask for Barb Eckols.
