Cows Out ProgramThe Graham County Sheriff's Office teamed up with Graham County Farm Bureau to start the Cows Out Program. This project was patterned after Barton County's program. The goal of this project is to provide ranchers and farmers a faster way to be notified when their cows along the highways are out of the pasture.
The way the program works is that the number assigned to the cow owner is given to the Sheriff's Office and kept in a database along with contact information. This information is kept secure and is not made available to the public. When someone comes across cows out along the roadways and they are able to see this sign and can report the number to our dispatchers, it allows them to know who the cows belong to. Any person interested in this project can contact the Graham County Farm Bureau Office in Hill City. Farm Bureau members are given the first sign for free and the second sign, with the same number, at cost. Non-Members can participate as well by purchasing the sign for $15. ![]() ![]() |
